Application

• Applicant understands and complies with USDA National Organic Program, Final Rule.
• Completes application specific to type of organic operation
• Completes an Organic System Plan  which describes, in sufficient detail, your operation's plan to achieve, document and sustain compliance to USDA/NOP standards and regulations.
• Submits application, Organic System Plan and applicable fees to Organic National & International Certifiers

Pre-Review

• Organic National & International Certifiers pre-reviews Organic System Plan for completeness and compliance with USDA National Organic Program, Final Rule.
• If compliance issues are noted, applicant will be notified prior to inspection allowing time for correction

On-Site Inspection

• Organic National and International Certifiers schedules organic inspector to complete on-site inspection of your organic production facilities
• Organic inspector assesses organic management practices and production documentation
• Organic inspector submits assessment and any additional reports generated during inspection to Organic National & Interational Certifiers

Expert Review

• Organic National and International Certifiers reviews materials for compliance with USDA National Organic Program, Final Rule
• Organic National & International Certifiers issues report to applicant regarding need for further clarification of certain issues, corrective or preventative actions and a timeframe for correction or clarification. 

Awarding of Organic Certification

• If complant to USDA/ NOP standards and regulations,  organic certificate is issued for specific crops/products requested for organic certification. 

Process Time

• From initial application to final assessment, 45-90 days depending upon type and scope of  operation.

Expiration of Certificate

• Valid until surrendered or revoked.
• To maintain and continue certification, an operation must submit to an on-site inspection, complete annual update information and remit applicable fees as required by the USDA/NOP.
